Avril & Colin

Ruthin Castle, North Wales

26th August 2023

On the 26th of August 2023, I had the pleasure of capturing the beautiful wedding day of Avril and Colin at the enchanting Ruthin Castle in North Wales. This striking venue not only serves as a remarkable backdrop for wedding photography but also holds a special place in my heart, as I had previously shot a wedding there a decade earlier. The day was filled with love, laughter, and stunning visuals that I am excited to share with you.

The Engagement Session

Before we delve into the wedding day itself, it’s important to highlight how I first met Avril and Colin. We initially got together at their lovely home for an engagement photoshoot. This session was not just an opportunity for them to get comfortable in front of the camera; it was also a chance for me to capture their chemistry and the beginning of their journey together. The engagement shoot allowed me to get to know their personalities better and set the stage for a fantastic wedding day.

Arriving at Ruthin Castle

As I arrived at Ruthin Castle, I felt an undeniable excitement. The castle, with its medieval charm and historical significance, offers an incredible setting for wedding photography. The towering stone walls and lush gardens create dramatic backdrops perfect for capturing moments, both candid and posed. Avril and Colin were both radiating joy as they prepared to take their vows amidst this breathtaking scenery.

The Stunning Ceremony

The ceremony took place in one of the castle’s beautiful rooms, elegantly decorated and filled with the warmth of family and friends. As a wedding photographer, I always aim to capture the emotions of the day, and Avril and Colin’s ceremony was no exception. The love between them was tangible; every tear shed and every smile shared was a testament to their commitment. The light streaming through the castle windows added an ethereal quality to the photographs, truly making this a fairy-tale moment.

Family Portraits – A Well-Planned Affair

One of my favourite aspects of Avril and Colin’s wedding day was how organised they were regarding family portraits. Before the big day, we had discussed the family groups they wanted to include in the photos, ensuring we could capture those precious moments easily. A well-structured plan means more time for spontaneity later, allowing us to get dozens of awesome family portraits while keeping things relaxed and enjoyable.

As we moved around the castle grounds for family photographs, the natural setting provided us with numerous spots to capture group shots and intimate moments. Each portrait tells a story of connection and love, encapsulating the joy of their wedding day.

Capturing Candid Moments

While posed photographs are undeniably important, I also focus on candid moments that unfold during the celebrations. Throughout the day, I roamed around the castle, capturing guests mingling, laughter, and joyful tears. Each click of the camera immortalised the genuine emotions and vibrant atmosphere of the day. The goal for every wedding photographer is to tell the story of the day through their lens, and at Ruthin Castle, I was able to do just that.

The Reception – Fun and Festivities

Avril and Colin’s wedding day at Ruthin Castle was an unforgettable occasion that perfectly blended love, history, and stunning scenery. As a photographer, I find great joy in documenting such significant life events. The picturesque settings of Ruthin Castle, North Wales, provided an ideal canvas to create lasting memories that Avril, Colin, and their families will cherish forever.

The day was a reminder of why I love wedding photography, capturing the emotions, the relationships and the little moments that make up a wedding day. I am so grateful to have been part of Avril and Colin’s special day, and I cannot wait to show them the beautiful images we created together. If you’re considering your own wedding photography, remember to think about the venues that resonate with you, just like Ruthin Castle does for so many couples.

Hi. Nick Bradley here. Born and raised in Wales, lived in Australia for ten years, now back in beautiful North Wales where I’m starting a family.

I studied Photography & Digital Design at Blackpool & Fylde University and have over 15 years experience working with all sorts of camera equipment. There is northing on this planet I’d rather be doing than photography. Seeing people happy when they receive a beautiful print of themselves that I’ve shot gives me all the motivation to keep going. I try and take care to make every image a client receives is as natural and flattering as possible. I believe this is where the real skill of people photography comes in.

At present I’m focussing on building my wedding portfolio but I have experience in product photography, some landscape photography and editorial style fashion photography. The latter being a great deal of my earlier work and whilst I was at university.

If there is anything you are needing professional images for, please get in touch as I have pretty good all round knowledge.
